Advantages of CAD landscape design
A CAD Landscape Design is a professional build (Computer Aided Draft), 24” x 36” plan, 2D, which acts as the foundation of the landscape plan. On this plan should have an overview of all aspects of the landscape design (i.e., show all plants needed, placements, irrigation systems, and hardscape). One CAD Design is usually done per either front or back yard.
Yes, we are able to draw hand sketched designs for your yard. However these sketches will be basic in nature, and not as extensive as the CAD drawing. It is becoming less common for landscape designers to draw large drawing via hand sketch, because edits are much easier done via computer now.
With CAD for landscaping, there is a large library plants and trees we will work with you to choose from. As a design and build firm, we know what plants and trees are around our area, and will recommend from excellent, local nurseries. JVM will provide you with the specifications of the plants and trees with the CAD Design as well.
This will depend on the size of your area needed, and the extensiveness of what is needed at the home (i.e., perhaps you just need softscape installation but not hardscape, etc). The industry standard is that one design is done for each view (one cost for front yard, and one cost for backyard).
CAD Landscape Designs start at $2,500, and can range to $4,500 for very large areas. This cost covers:
- initial one hour meeting with certified, landscape designer on staff
- Initial CAD design drawn for client
- Subsequent meeting that review first draft with client (edits made after that)
- 2nd meeting to review draft with client
- Finalize Landscape Design.
Once the design is complete, the design is yours, and you can then take that design to give to bid.
Yes, all designs are 2D, and will have color in them. Color substantially makes the design more palatable overall, and helps break down what is happening better in the design.
